About Andy Greening

Andy Greening lives in North London with his wife, Simone. When the weather is anything like fair, you will find him out on a motorcycle, hunting down the sort of half-forgotten castle, mill or folly that these rides pass by — the very habit that grew, over many seasons, into a book, and then into a series of them.

This site is where he shares the routes themselves. Each ride is a GPX file you can load straight into your satnav, built around the kind of roads and stops Andy loves, so you can spend your time on the road rather than planning it.

His riding is not confined to any one region. When his schedule and the weather allow, he still points the bike west for Snowdonia, whose empty passes and shifting mountain light make it, by his own reckoning, one of the very finest places in Britain to ride — and quite possibly his favourite of all.

Over the years he has owned various motorcycles but these days he keeps two: a Yamaha XSR700 for the lanes and quick escapes close to home, and a Kawasaki Versys 1000 for the longer hauls.
