About this ride

A compact half-day with two distinct halves. First comes a fast run beside a broad lake and out across open farmland to a market town, then a gentle valley road with the fells in view, and finally a climb over a forested pass that is the high point of the day.

Nothing here is difficult: the pass is well surfaced with generous bends, and you can use an A-road or B-road bike all the way. There is no fuel on the route once you leave the start, so fill up first. It is a good one for a bright spring or autumn morning, when the forest colours are at their best.
