About this ride
A loop through the southern edge of the Highlands: a long, easy run beside a big freshwater loch with the hills rising across the water, a high river crossing above a waterfall, then a narrow wooded glen that opens onto the farmland of Strathearn before the road swings back towards the start.
Most of it is good A road, quick and smooth, with the best riding on the lakeside and glen sections where the bends come in long, readable sweeps. There are a few short single-track stretches on the linking roads, so keep to the left and look well ahead. Fuel is the thing to plan: there is a long gap early on, so fill up in Aberfeldy before you leave. It is a fine half-day in settled spring or autumn weather.
