About this ride

A loop across the Yorkshire Wolds, the rolling chalk uplands east of York. The land is open and gently folded, with hedged fields, long sightlines, small villages tucked into dry valleys and a great deal of sky.

This is relaxed riding rather than twisty riding: well-surfaced B roads, long easy curves and few steep climbs, with one town crossed on ordinary streets. Expect crosswinds on the exposed ridges and a stretch near the start that is ridden twice. It suits newer riders and anyone wanting an unhurried half-day, best on a bright day from spring to early autumn.
