Royal Norfolk sets the tone: estate woodland with avenues of pines and heather clearings on either side of the road, then the wide, sandy shore of the Wash and a coast of low cliffs, beach huts and seaside villages.
A varied and easy half-day. The woodland section is slow and scenic, the coast road runs village to village at a gentle pace, and a quicker cross-country stretch balances it. Summer weekends bring traffic on the coast, so a weekday or an early start works best.
