About this ride
A long circuit from the gateway to the Dales that links three great valleys. It climbs a high dale road, crosses a famous pass, runs east along a wide valley of market towns and then swings round through gentler country before coming back over a steep moor and down a river valley.
This is a full day of mostly A and B roads, fast and easy between the hills and demanding on the climbs. Expect a steep hill over a moor near the end, a couple of miles of narrow, wall-lined lanes and a gate or two on the lesser roads. Fuel and cafés are well spread. Settled weather between late spring and early autumn makes the most of it.
