About this ride
A compact loop that runs up a steep, wooded river valley, crosses to a small moorland-edge town, and returns along the eastern fringe of the moor. It is quick, pleasant riding on good surfaces, with plenty of bends and very little traffic once you leave the start.
Nothing here is difficult, though the valley road is narrow in places and the leaf litter can be slippery in autumn. It is short enough to fit in after work on a light evening, and fuel is easy to find at the start. Best from May to September, when the trees are in full leaf.
