About this ride

A big, relaxed circuit of long A-roads through quiet farming country. It crosses rolling hills, runs round the foot of a forested upland, slips briefly over the border into England, and comes home beside a broad river in a wide valley.

This is a ride for rhythm rather than drama: long sweepers, good surfaces and very little traffic, with a couple of cattle grids to take gently. It is the longest of the easy rides in the area, so fill up before you set off. Spring and autumn are lovely, with fresh green or russet colour across the fields.
