About this ride
A triangle of contrasting roads. A long, easy valley road runs beside a quiet railway to a spa town, a lonely moor road then crosses a wide high plateau, and a main road finishes the loop through green pastures. Each side feels quite different, and the middle one is the one you will remember.
The plateau crossing is the part to respect: it is open and exposed, the military land alongside can mean red flags and closed side roads, and there is little shelter if the weather turns. Check ahead and keep to the main road. Fuel is easy at the start and end. Pick a settled day from late spring to early autumn.
