About this ride

A satisfying mix of fast, open ridge-top riding and deeper valley roads. The first part is long and straight with big views either side, then the route drops into a wooded valley before climbing onto high moorland for the run home.

The moorland section is the tricky one: the road is narrower and rougher in places, with cattle grids and sudden dips, so ride it with care, especially in wet or windy weather. Fuel is easy at the start and finish but sparse between. Choose a dry day from late spring to early autumn.
