About this ride

A full lap of Snowdonia's highest mountains, from wooded valleys through a rocky gorge and down beside deep glacial lakes. The road climbs into bare, scree-streaked passes with crags rising on both sides, then drops back through slate country towards the coast road and home.

Expect a long day of A roads that alternate between quick valley running and sustained mountain climbs with sweeping bends and a few tighter corners. Walkers, cyclists and summer traffic mean the best riding comes early in the day or outside the school holidays. It suits an experienced rider who wants the classic mountain circuit in a single, rewarding half-day.
