About this ride
A loop built for the last two hours of daylight in North Wales. It starts beside the sea, cuts inland over farmland, then follows a long valley of old slate country beneath a jagged mountain ridge, with a still lake beside the road, before finishing through a tight, rocky gorge alongside a river.
The valley road is the heart of the ride, a quiet, winding climb with little traffic, while the main-road links either side let you make progress between the good bits. The gorge at the end is narrow and demands attention. It suits riders of moderate experience on a clear summer or early-autumn evening, when the low sun lights the slopes. Fill up before you leave, as the loop has no fuel stops.
